Dog Food Ingredients: Merrick Dog Food

Merrick Dog Food has buffalo as its first ingredient. 80% of water is included in raw buffalo but moisture is lost during cooking that results in reduced meat contain than its original state. Probably this product has lower position in the market as compare to the raw meat product.

The next ingredient in this brand food is salmon and lamb meals which are dominant food supplement in this food. They are considered as the meat concentrate with the meat protein concentration of nearly 300% than that in the fresh salmon and lamb respectively. Unlike other fish meals, these items are supposed to be free of ethoxyquin.

The next one is ground rice that is supposed not to judge the quality by the name only. Similarly the other ingredient in this dog food is oatmeal, a whole grain that is made from coarsely ground oats. This is rich in fiber, vitamins B which is mostly free of gluten.

Now comes barley that is rich in starchy carbohydrates that supply fiber and many other health nutrients.

The main function of the barley is to support the stable sugar level in blood of dogs because of the glycemic index contained in it.

Beef fat is next ingredient in Merrick Dog Food. Even this sound indigestible, but actually it is quality ingredient. Mostly the beef fat is obtained from rendering the beef like that in the process of making soap.

Venison is another protein ingredient in this dog food. This is considered as the important element in the pet food.

Although including these entire ingredients in the dog food, the food is not fully nutritional. So the manufacturers have to add some other bacterial products at the time of cooking in order to enhance the dog’s immune and digestive system.

The next nutrient substance that is later added in this food is chelated minerals. These minerals are attached chemically to amino acids. Chelated minerals are generally added in most of the Merrick pet food.

If you don’ want to get out of stock of your pet food and run to the store in the very last minute, then visit PetFlow.com that lets you buy your pet food at extrememly chepaer price along with the facility to choose from different brands, types of foods and many other characteristics.

Most foods contain bacteria. If the food or store in spravnyc conditions, namely fresh food in cold and hot food really hot, the bacteria can multiply rapidly and cause poisoning. Contaminated food, which left more than an hour and a half in warm, is ideal for breeding bacteria environment. In warm weather, so food poisoning occurs more often.

The food with which we treat with special care to include undercooked meat and poultry, unpasteurized dairy products, rice, standing too long in the heat or that are improperly heated, crustaceans and molluscs from an unknown source, spoiled oily fish, cooked meat products raw and undercooked eggs or eggs with cracked shells.

Food poisoning is an illness resulting from consumption of food that was improperly prepared or stored, allowing pathogenic bacteria grow in food.

It is usually distinguished from diseases such as hepatitis , in which food is a vector for disease transmission between humans.

Symptoms begin several hours after ingestion and include nausea and diarrhea . Most cases of food poisoning spontaneously resolve themselves, but food poisoning can be fatal, especially in children, the elderly and other people who have weak immune systems. Food poisoning that results from a restaurant or other commercial eating place is especially of concern as it can affect large numbers of people. Improperly stored food served at picnics can also poison large numbers of people: the majority of these poisonings come from umproperly order meat . Potato salad and macaroni salad can also be risky if made from homemade mayonnaise containing raw eggs (factory produced mayonnaise is safe).

REDUCE RISK

Food is usually contaminated by the transfer of bacteria from the respiratory tract or from feces. People should, therefore, should always wash their hands before they touch food, and handling of food should not blowing. Also, pets carry germs, so do not let them into the kitchen and dining table prostrenému. The food poisoning occurs more often in summer than in winter, and it is especially in the hot summer months, an important food properly stored.

HIGH RISK FOOD

In most food poisoning risk particularly pregnant women, elderly people and young children, the chronically ill and people with weakened immune systems, such as patients suffering from cancer and AIDS. Mainly these people would therefore have to put food on the look out below.

Eggs are a major source of salmonella bacteria, which is a common cause of food poisoning. Symptoms of salmonellosis include abdominal cramps and vomiting. This bacterium thrives in egg creams, salads and other dishes containing raw or undercooked eggs, especially if the store in the refrigerator. Destroy Salmonella in shell eggs cooked for 7 minutes without a shell or frying 5 minutes on each side for 3 minutes. Foods made with raw eggs, such as freshly prepared custard creams and a variety of mayonnaise rather avoid.

Pregnancy Nutrition – Processed Foods Vs Whole Foods

Is it ever okay to eat processed foods when you are striving for optimal pregnancy nutrition? Well, yes and no. If you are trying to keep your weight gain low and your baby healthy, then swearing off the processed foods can bring a huge benefit to you throughout your pregnancy.

On the other hand, processed foods are so ingrained into our culture that it can be difficult to envision life without them. Is there a time and a place for processed foods during pregnancy? Or should you eliminate them from your diet altogether? In this article, we get to the bottom of the processed versus whole foods debate for pregnant women.

Pros and Cons of Processed Foods

Processed foods have some obvious advantages over their whole and unprocessed counterparts.

For one thing, they are extremely convenient to obtain. If you get hungry while you are out running errands, it’s easy to step into a fast food restaurant and order a value meal off the menu. In addition, processed foods are cheap.

If you are watching your budget while you are pregnant, then processed foods may seem like an inexpensive way to fill up and satisfy your cravings. In fact, you may decide that eating lunch meat while pregnant is a great way to get your protein in at every meal, without going to the expense and bother of preparing a lean cut of meat at home.

The cons to processed foods, though, are many. They are filled with sodium, fillers, and calories. This gives them the potential to wreck your eating plan and cause you to gain weight if consumed to excess while you are pregnant.

They also can contribute to water retention, as the high sodium content can trigger your body to retain water. Processed foods are also packaged with fillers that usually contain wheat or gluten. These two ingredients can contribute to bloating and indigestion when you are pregnant.

The bottom line is, processed foods are at best a shorter–and often short-sighted–solution to your nutritional needs during pregnancy.

Pros and Cons of Whole Foods

The benefits of whole foods are pretty obvious. They are usually higher in protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber-all of which are nutritional elements that are key to successful pregnancy nutrition. They are free of chemicals, hormones, and other questionable substances that can potentially harm your developing fetus during pregnancy.

In addition, whole foods offer more bang for your buck-higher nutrients per portion than processed foods. So even if whole foods seem more expensive, you are getting more of the “real deal” when you eat them.

The cons of whole foods are obvious too. You have to take the time out of your busy schedule to prepare them, and you must make an extra effort to bring them with you as you go about your daily routine.

Also, organic and hormone-free products are also usually more expensive than regular products at the grocery store. So even moms with the best of intentions can find that whole foods are too inconvenient and too expensive to incorporate into their diet plans.

Tips for Making the Switch

You can, however, have the best of both worlds if you slowly incorporate whole foods into your lifestyle. One of the best ways to do this is to seek out a local farmer’s market.

The vendors there often offer organic fruits, vegetables, eggs and even meats at the peak of freshness and in season, making them much less expensive than out-of-season produce at your grocery store.

Try packing an apple and raw nuts as a snack while you run errands, rather than making a stop at McDonald’s while you are out. Even just trying one new thing can make a huge improvement in your pregnancy and how you feel.

Atkins Diet Food – Atkins Friendly Food

The rule of thumb is that if you have cravings a lot or are seriously stalled, cut the caffeine and/or alcohol and see where it takes you. Focus on lean cuts of beef and lamb. Even cheaper cuts of beef are good.

It’s good to cut down your milk consumption for the first two weeks, and see how your body likes it. You cut out things like pasta, bread, rice and alcohol, yet you eat unlimited amounts of meat, cheese and butter.

A low carb, high protein diet has been scientifically proven to improve insulin sensitivity, decrease blood pressure and cut blood insulin levels. No “diet” cheese, cheese spreads or whey cheeses are permitted. Vegetable and seed oils, cheese, dairy, nuts and legumes are used sparingly and in appropriate portions. Typical foods you can eat include meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and cheese, plus a limited amount of green vegetables such as asparagus, spinach, and broccoli

You can try more greens and other vegetables, half a cup of cottage cheese, one ounce of sunflower seeds, or a dozen macadamia nuts.

When you stop losing weight, you subtract five grams of carbohydrate from your daily allotment, so that slow weight loss continues. Eat absolutely no fruits, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables, or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter.

As to fast foods hamburgers with no bun would be “OK”. You should ask for the burger with no condiments to make this part easier. Fresh cheeses like cottage and farmer’s chesses are not allowed, nor are processed diet cheeses and cheese substitutes. No fries, no shakes. Also be sure you don’t eat any fruit.

The Atkins diet food List also includes aged cheeses as well as cheddars, and cow, sheep or goats cheese.

It is not true that you can eat whatever you want as long as it doesn’t have carbohydrates. I suggest you visit a physician before starting a low carb or any other diet plan

While the pounds drop off, you’ll reap dozens of other fringe benefits as a result of making the switch to a controlled carbohydrate lifestyle. I’m finding a lot of previously “Low Carb” marked products are actually low carb normally.

Everything that is added has carbs. So keep your menu plans close to you and your high carb foods aside from you. Curing is not a friendly process to one who aims for a low carb diet.

Under the Atkins program, foods containing carbohydrates (like sugar, grains, and starches) are limited or replaced in favor of foods containing more protein and fat. The Atkins diet menu stipulates that main weight loss will come from low carbohydrate intake. There are lots of great low carb chocolates and ice creams but avoid these for the first 2 weeks.

I have been working on a new diet/exercise program for a while now – and I am finding that if I don’t eat carbs I have no energy at all to go to the gym

I lost 30 pounds in three months. I’m not an expert, but I do speak from experience. Most of this, I learned on my own or through close friends and family members. I personally tried all sorts of ways of losing weight, but I was never able to find a way to lose it and keep it off until I came across Strip That Fat. It focuses removing unwanted fat from your body and provides you with a new, healthier outlook on life. But it does it in a heathy way – a way that you can follow and keep the weight off for years to come.It also comes with a personal diet generator which builds a diet plan based on foods you like to eat. And believe me this actually makes losing weight easy and enjoyable.

Commercial Dog Food Verses Homemade Canine Food

Not many people know the truth when it comes to commercial dog food verses homemade canine food. There are many differences and reasons why you need to know what is being served to your pet. Just because something is approved to feed an animal does not mean it is the best for them. Not every dog responds to the same food in the same way. Knowing your dog and what he or she prefers helps. If you are not sure what is in your dog’s food, you need to go look. You may be surprised at what you are actually feeding him.

Fresh Verses Fake

Protein is a major component in your dog’s daily diet. The content and type of protein in commercial dog food verses homemade dog food is completely different. Commercial canine food offer poor protein sources that are not adequate. Animal by products such as ears, hair, lips, and hooves are not considered quality meat sources.

Yet, these end up in our dog food and we are supposed to be alright with it. Homemade dog food offers you the chance to be sure that your dog is getting quality protein sources. You do not need to buy the best meat on the market, but you can buy actual meat. Using standard beef, chicken, or turkey will allow your dog to get the amount of actual protein each day it takes to stay healthy.

Filler Or Fuller

One of the many issues surrounding commercial dog food verses homemade canine food is that commercial foods are full of filler. These low digestible products are made to make our dogs feel full, but do not offer a high source of carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, or minerals. They are pure fiber and filler that make our dogs need to potty more. A lack of easily digestible carbohydrates such as pasta, potatoes, or rice can make dogs lazy.

It is the carbohydrate in a dog food that gives the dog the energy he or she needs. Not getting enough proper carbs can also make your dog very sick and require more vet care than usual. Making your own food offers you the chance to give your dog the proper energy he or she needs each day.

The Allergy Factor

Despite the fact that when it comes to commercial dog food verses homemade canine food, homemade food is healthier; your dog is less likely to be allergic to it. Allergies are common in many dog breeds. The most common type of dog allergy is a food allergy. These manifest in many ways and can cost a dog owner a lot of money. Commercial dog foods do not allow you to choose the ingredients that are put in it. Take into consideration the preservatives and additives to make it last months under your counter and it is no wonder why many dogs do not fare well on it, Homemade dog foods allow you to control what your dog eats and keeps allergies to a minimum. There is also no reason to add any chemicals, as fresh is best.

Compare Dog Food – Dry Vs. Canned food

Compare Dog Food – These sorts of food supplies are distinct with different quality of taste by the dogs or puppies. dogs like dry foods only if they are tasty only and however, on comparison, the dogs favor only the canned food products. Once you compare dog food you will find that the motive for such preference by the dogs or puppies is that in case of canned food items, the moisture is about seventy to eighty per cent however in case of dry food, it is only about 10 per cent.

However, if you compare dog food by viewing it in terms of nutrients, often the dry food have practically ninety per cent nutrients where the canned food products include only less per cent of nutrition and most of the times. It is only soy food that are prepared so well to look like red meat pieces.

Hence, to make-up the nutritional balance in the body systems, the dog has to gobble more quantity of canned food materials than the dry food materials. For this reason, just compare the price tag factor related to this item by you. Numerous dry food items are soybean and rice based.

Nowadays some dry food items are based on corn.

Sometimes, beef based or chicken based food items come in the cans along with mineral and vitamin supplements suitable for the maintenance of the dog’s health status. Bigger dogs that evaluate more than 30 pounds require to be fed with semi moist food items or dry food products in most of the occasions.

It is to satisfy the food receptors in the stomach. This is due to the fact that the larger dogs or puppies must to eat plenty of moist food or the canned food products to satisfy these criteria. But it may not be practically possible in these larger dogs. The small sized dogs or puppies may have a satisfactory level of nutrients when fed even the moist food items.

However, the caloric density of the dry food ought to not be forgotten.

Enriched dry food products are highly welcome ones than the non -enriched food products.

Cooking Food – Different Methods For Different Foods

Cooking food will be the topic that will lead your mind to the several techniques to ready the foods before serving them on your dining table. Certainly, the foods will be cooked based on people’s taste or will depend on the meal you wanna prepare. For example, you can steam, bake or grill the foods.

Cooking Food by Baking

Baking is the first method you can try. It is done by using oven. The standard temperature for baking in the oven will range start from 300 up to 450 Fahrenheit. Baking method is commonly used for the kind of foods such as pastries, cake and even anything prepared with a batter.

What about Roasting?

The next cooking food technique you can try is roasting. You can do it through the uncovered hot air. Generally, it is done on meats to make it more tender and juicy. The leg of a lamb or the turkey is the common place on a rack of a shallow pan to get it cooked.

Grilling or Broiling

Broiling or grilling is another method that you can try through the application of direct heat.

Under a continuous flow of heat, the meal is being cooked and tenderized. In broiling, you have to leave it slightly uncovered to restrain the pan from becoming too hot and damaging the meal instead.

Frying

Among the other techniques, frying is probably the safest one to do, chiefly if your oil and flame is regulated the proper way. You can have a perfect-fried meal if you know when to dip the meat in the hot oil.

Steaming

The last cooking food technique is steaming. The special steamers are generally used by cooks to make the perfectly-steamed meat. The regular foods which need steaming for their preparation are fish and vegetables.

The purpose is to retain their color and taste.

Texas Food Handlers Card Assures Food Safety
When patrons enter a food service establishment they want to know the business and its employees understand the need for food safety. One way they are assured of the training of the employees is having the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certification and Serve Safe Food certifications posted within the business. This assures them that all workers are trained in the safe preparation and handling of their food and beverages.
The Food Handlers of Texas offers two courses for those seeking to receive a Texas Food Handler Card through courses both online and in a classroom setting. Many food service businesses are reluctant to hire workers without certification and the courses offer those who successfully complete the course the certificate at the end of the course. There is no waiting for days, or even weeks, as some similar courses may require.
The Texas Department of State Health Services does not require every person working in such facilities to hold a Texas food handlers card it does require they work under a person with a license. This allows newer employees to learn about safe food preparation and handling while they train to take the exam.
Another advantage of the Food Handlers of Texas classes is that they are accepted by every city health department in the state of Texas. Meaning, that once a person receives a Texas Food Handler Card from one of the courses, they can use that card anywhere in the state. The education company also offers the guarantee that if their card is not recognized in any city they will refund the cost of course. There may be some companies offering T.A.B.C. certification for less, but the certification may not be accepted throughout the state.
Persons wishing to take the exam, whether online or in a classroom will learn about the proper procedures for food preparation to include safe cooking temperatures, safe holding temperatures and the proper way to handle ready-to-eat food items. T.A.B.C. certification is also needed to ensure compliance with Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commissions requirements on the legal aspects of liquor sales, such as who can purchase alcoholic beverages and the responsibilities of the seller.
State laws outline the precautions required by servers to insure sales to minors are now allowed as well as how to recognize patrons who may have reached a level of intoxication and should not be served. The certification programs offered by the Food Handlers of Texas assure compliance with all applicable laws and both the T.A.B.C. certification and the Texas Food Handler Card issued at the completion of the course are accepted state-wide. Both courses are provided online or in a classroom setting and are valid for two years.

Including Baby Food In Your Food Storage
When it comes to food storage, many are lacking of the qualities that would make them properly functional or appropriate for the family they are supposed to feed. Not only are they lacking in variety, but the food provided does not cover the needs of the family.

For example, if a family has a baby, they may not think about storing baby food with their food storage. Other families may not think about the potential that they could have a baby when disaster strikes even if they do not have one now.

Fortunately, it is very easy to make your own baby food as long as you have the right ingredients and proper equipment. However, in order to have these things on hand you will have to think about them ahead of time.

All you have to do to make the baby food is to cook the food, throw it in a blender and set the blender to puree. You can make any kind of baby food that is normally appropriate for the age of your young child.

Remember that babies do not have the limitations that adults do. They may not mind their potatoes and apples mixed together.

If the food needs to be thinned so the blender can mix it appropriately, add a little breast milk, formula, liquid left in the pan from cooking the vegetables, or water to the blender. You can cook the food in any manner you choose including steaming, baking, microwaving, or boiling.

If you are concerned about the number of nutrients that your baby will get out the food, steaming will be your best option. Steaming tends to remove fewer of the nutrients from the food.

Many of these options allow you to make large batches of food as well. This will save you time as you will not have to make something new every day.

If you choose to microwave the food, try to choose an appropriate glass dish to do it in. Some plastic containers release harmful chemicals into the food.

In general, it is best not to choose the microwave though. In addition, if you choose to add the liquid from the vegetables that remained in the pan after cooking to the puree, there are certain kinds you should not feed to a baby under seven months old.

You should not feed a younger than seven month old baby left over water from carrots or other vegetables that are high in nitrates. It is a good idea to add other leftover vegetable water though as it often contains some of the nutrients that were cooked out of the vegetable.

If you add formula or breast milk, these things will also add nutrients. In addition, the baby will probably recognize the taste and it will be easier for him or her to learn how to eat the food.

It is a very good idea to thin the food with something so that it is easier for the baby to digest it. If your blender seems to have a difficult time pureeing the food, add more liquid and only fill it half full at most.

As one batch of food will probably be much more than your baby can eat in a week, you will want to freeze some of the food for later. The first thing you will want to make sure you do is freeze the food in appropriate freezer containers.

Avoid glass unless the glass is specifically marked for freezing as it may not handle cold temperatures well. Once the food is well blended, it is a good idea to pour it into ice cube trays.

The ice cube sections make the perfect serving sizes for babies. You may want to cover the ice cube tray with plastic wrap so that nothing contaminates them.

Once these are frozen, pour the baby food cubes into a bag and place them back in the freezer. They are now ready to grab at a moment’s notice and heated up.

Each ice cube is about one ounce of food. As your baby gets larger you may have pull out several cubes per meal.

Even frozen this food can go bad after awhile so you will want to make sure that you date each bag of cubes you put into the freezer. In general, frozen baby food will only last a month before it should be thrown away to be on the safe side.

Baby food can easily be made from canned fruits and vegetables that are a part of your food storage as well. However, you will need to make sure you have a usable blender.
