Organic Baby Food – What are the Benefits?
Organic Baby Food – What are the Benefits?
Obviously, the major benefits for choosing an organic diet is simply that less chemicals and harmful byproducts are put into your child’s environment which ensures a greater benefit for a life full of good health.
Read through the below reasons which are an excerpt from my book “Organic Baby Food:The Buyer’s Guide” why you should consider feeding soley Organic Baby Food to your little one.
While there are many studies that are still pending on this benefit, the fact is many pesticides are known carcinogens (which means they cause Cancer!) and are responsible for many other health problems.
By feeding your child organic foods, you are able to reduce the number of pesticides and herbicides that your child comes into contact means.
Even if you thoroughly wash your fruits and vegetables, there is still a high level of pesticides in non-organic foods and those pesticides can be linked to:
Asthma
ADHD
Autism
Neurological Disorders and Brain Damage
Organ Damage
Cancer
Precocious puberty in girls
Hormonal Disruption
With organic, you are reducing your child’s exposure to pesticides and many other chemicals that are sprayed on commercial crops.
In my book “Organic Baby Food: The Buyer’s Guide“, I list all the possible health problems you will avoid by consuming Organic Baby Foods.
Have you ever looked at an ingredients list and seen words that you don’t understand. Big words that sound very chemically. I’m sure you have and many of those chemical sounding words actually represent chemicals and byproducts that are found in your food.
Baby food is no exception to these chemicals being used and there are many artificial, chemically produced dyes, preservatives and other chemical additives that are not needed.

With organic, you will actually know what your child is eating, whether it is something you have made or an organic premade food, since only real ingredients will be listed on the label.
Although the jury is still out on the possible side effects from eating genetically altered food, it is an added benefit that your baby will not be getting any of these mystery foods since Organic Baby Food must not include any GMO.
The reason I reccomend avoiding genetic alterations are many and wide but mainly because alteration on food is fairly new and we have no idea of knowing the long term (or even the short term) side affects. Why risk this on your child! If in 10 or 20 years time research concludes serious health affects, you will have the comfort in knowing your child did not eat it.
While freshness can vary depending on whether you are purchasing a prepared organic product or making it yourself, most organic foods are fresher than non-organic since preservatives are not used in making them. (which means they have a shorter shelf life so when you get them fresh – they are recently prepared!)
In addition, many organic foods are produced locally and stores purchase smaller quantities of them. This means food is taken off the shelves earlier and you are left with a higher quality food then one that has been sitting for long periods of time.
When your baby is switching to new foods, flavor is a very important part of making a successful switch. Organic baby foods are known to have better (more true to nature) flavour, which, in turn, encourages your baby to enjoy the food and makes switching to “real table foods” later on a MUCH easier endevour as baby is used to “normal” food (not the jarred mush of many baby foods.
In addition, there are no additional flavors caused by by-products, chemicals or artificial sweeteners.
It may not seem like a huge benefit but eating organic will ensure that you eat to the season. This will cut down on grocery prices, especially in fruits and vegetables and it will ensure that you are purchasing local, or as local as you can.
Many foods that aren’t organic come from countries that do not have as many restrictions on sprays as the United States and other Western Countries have and they can be filled with many by-products that are hazardous to your child.
In addition, buying off season food can become very expensive and the overall quality is poorer. By choosing organic, you will be creating a versatile menu that is full of flavor and varied.
While it can be simpler to purchase baby food, even organic baby food, creating an organic diet for your baby will only benefit your whole family. In many cases, you can make your baby food from dishes that you are making for the rest of your family. In addition, you can choose the quantity that you make so you can choose between convenience, when you freeze the baby food, or freshness, when you make it daily.
It can fit into any type of lifestyle, no matter how busy you are and you have the lasting benefit of knowing that your baby is getting the best in life.
Although I have listed seven benefits for feeding your baby organic, the benefits are limitless. It affects local growers, leaves a smaller carbon footprint on the earth and encourages responsible farmer methods. All of these will have a benefit on your health, your baby’s health and on the overall health of your community.
Before you make the decision, make sure to read information about it like what’s available in my new ebook “Organic Baby Food:The Buyer’s Guide“.
